This past weekend Patrick Oathout, a member of the BorderWork(s) Lab's "Mapping the World’s Refugees and Displaced Persons" group independent study, was recognized at the 2012 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) University Meeting for his project "Uhuru Mobile." Designed to enhance the communication capacities of refugees, Uhuru is a phone app that allows users to submit reports on entrepreneurial activity via SMS messaging, email, a webpage and Twitter. Congratulations Patrick!!
You can see journalist/author Kathryn Schulz introducing Patrick's project and presenting the CGI award to Patrick in this video starting at 4:20.
Patrick was featured in the CGI meeting along with his Duke classmate Anirudh Mohan. Both are sophomores. Can't wait to see what they will be up to next!
