Victoria Szabo
Co-Director, GreaterThanGames Lab / Core Affiliated Faculty, Haiti Lab
Victoria Szabo is currently an affiliated faculty of the Haiti Lab and, starting Fall 2011, co-director of the GreaterThanGames Lab. She is an Assistant Research Professor focused on Visual Studies and New Media in the Department of Art, Art History, and Visual Studies, and is the Program Director for Information Science + Information Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in English, and a Certificate from the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Research on Women and Gender, from the University of Rochester. Prior to coming to Duke she worked in academic technology at Stanford. Her research focuses on new media and cultural representation, particularly within geospatial and virtual world contexts. Related collaborative projects have focused on historic Berlin, the Great Exhibition of 1851, the Muhuru Bay, Kenya health landscape, and the Duke/Durham community.
