Applications for Story+ Summer 2022

Applications for Story+ Summer 2022 are now Closed!

Summer 2022 Program Statement Story+ 2022 will for the first time be a completely hybrid program with nine teams slated as fully in-person and two as fully remote. We will update this site, and any who've applied, should University and local health guidance recommend we shift our in-person projects to hybrid or remote. Remote projects are marked below. Story+ 2022 is currently scheduled to run on a full-time schedule from Wednesday, May 11, 2022 until Friday, June 24, 2022 with the expectation that students will not take conflicting classes or work arrangements. We are increasing our stipends to reflect the anticipation that this will be your only engagement for the six weeks of the program, and to help cover the rising costs of living and researching in Durham. We anticipate each in-person team will form its own mini-'pod' so as to keep our researchers as safe as possible. The undergraduate research stipend for full-time participation this year will be $3,150. Graduate student project managers, whose commitment is part-time, will receive a stipend of $2,650.

Stipend Statement Generally students receive their stipends in two equal payments at the end of each program month, May and June. Please be aware that policies may require different payment paperwork and longer approval processes for students in select categories, including (but not limited to) international students, non-Duke students, DKU students, non-US citizens. In such cases, you may not receive your stipend according to the timeline mentioned above. Please email and/or contact the visa office and/or reach out to your financial aid advisor for guidance on making summer plans.
