FHI, Short Residency | Work-in-Progress: Jodi Dean, "Communist Freedoms"

You are invited to join a workshop with Jodi Dean to discuss her work-in-progress, "Communist Freedoms."

The wager of "Communist Freedoms" is that there is a world communist tradition with a distinct approach to freedom. Seeing this approach requires that we jettison assumptions regarding temporal and regional particularity. It also requires that we read for unity rather than division. The concerns of the paper, then, are as methodological as they are substantive, questions of how we read communists in struggle as well as what they teach us about freedom.
