South Asia Working Group Movie Screening: Humans in the Loop

Directed by Aranya Sahay, Humans in the Loop (2025) follows Nehma, a single mother from the Oraon tribe in Jharkhand, who begins working at a data-labelling centre training AI systems for global tech clients. As she engages with the very algorithms she helps build, she confronts the hidden biases embedded within them and the ethical dilemmas they expose. Blending intimate storytelling with urgent social commentary, Humans in the Loop is a powerful exploration of technology, labour, and the human cost of artificial intelligence.
This film screening is organized by the South Asian Working Group, an FHI graduate working group.
Refreshments will be served. Hope to see you there!
