This information session provides guidance for faculty who are considering applying for federal NEH/NEA funding to support their projects in the humanities, interpretive social sciences, or the arts. The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) offer significant funding for scholarly projects small and large, from books and translations to collaborations, workshops, conferences, and performances--including multiple types of digital projects.  The session includes:

• an overview of opportunities and best practices for grantwriting (Sylvia Miller, FHI)
• information on Duke support, policies, and procedures from proposals through post-award management (Lara Whittaker, Campus Grants Management Team)
• a panel of Duke faculty who are recent recipients of these highly competitive NEH/NEA grants:
  • Wesley Hogan, John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute
  • Maurizio Forte, Classical Studies
  • Jessica Sperling, Social Science Research Institute
  • Ed Balleisen, Vice Provost for Interdisciplinary Studies

The event will conclude with a Q&A session with all of the speakers.
