Speaker(s):
Francesco Brancaccio

For over a year the Yellow Vest movement descended into the streets of France each Saturday. Earlier this year it developed forms of convergence with other movements, most notably with the massive strikes over pensions and with the student strikes. But now France is locked down during the virus crisis. Francesco Brancaccio will join us from Paris to discuss the evolution of the Yellow Vest movement, its relevance with respect to the French government's handling of the virus crisis, and the potentials for future development.

Date: Thursday 23 April, 11am to 12 noon

Suggested readings for background:

Franceso Brancaccio, "The Space-time of the Gilets Jaunes"

Marta Camella Galí, Matteo Polleri, Federico Puletti, "Gilets Jaunes: From Declassing to Counter-power"
