Beyond Textbooks: How Students Create Connection Through Narrative
Nineteenth-century hoopskirts; food and agriculture; living while incarcerated. These are distinct subjects, but at a recent event at the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute, they had something in common: stories.
Students who delved into these topics as part of a summer program showed how narratives and community connected them more deeply to these topics than solely traditional academic research would.
