Honoring the Reverend Doctor Gay L. Byron
From our colleagues at the Manuscript Migration Lab:
The Franklin Humanities Institute, the Manuscript Migration Lab, Library staff, and other friends gathered this past Tuesday evening, December 12, to remember our beloved colleague Dr. Gay L. Byron. Dr. Byron passed away suddenly last week after a brief illness. Though her time at Duke was brief, her impact on us is beyond measure. Research undertaken during two years as an FHI Humanities Unbounded Fellow and Affiliate of the Manuscript Migration Lab, culminating in the Mapping Manuscript Migration exhibition at the Mary Duke Biddle Room of the Perkins Library, was ongoing.
A Homegoing Service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1500 9th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. on Thursday, December 14 from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. The service will be livestreamed. For more information, see: https://www.kwadefunerals.com/post/gaybyron
May her life, work, and bright spirit continue to inspire and challenge us all.
