Assistant Director, Franklin Humanities Institute

Pamela Montgomery joined Duke University in 1997. In her capacity as Assistant Director of Finance and Administration at the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute (FHI), she is responsible for management of all business and administrative processes, including budget development, financial reporting, supervision of financial and HR administration, grant and facilities management, IT administration, procurement, and vendor contracts. She has over 20 years in research and financial management experience. Prior to joining FHI, Pamela worked as Education and Training Coordinator at Research Costing Compliance, as a Financial Manager at Duke’s Nicholas School, as Grants Manager in the Divisions of Hematology and Oncology and Manager in Program in Education.

Pamela holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from North Carolina Central University and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from USC – Coastal Carolina University. She has the RCC and Research Administration Institute (RAI) Certification from Duke. Pamela is an executive member of Administrative Women’s Network (AWN). She has served as a United Way Ambassador and on Duke’s Symposium for Research Administrators Planning Committee.

Pamela has been an active member of the North Carolina Chapter of SRA International and has volunteered in several capacities since 1999. She leads the North Carolina Chapter as President and Membership Chair and has previously served as Treasurer and Planning Committee Co-Chair.
