2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute at Duke University. This year also coincides with the 100th anniversary of Duke.

To mark these dovetailing anniversaries, FHI launched a yearlong celebration — FHI 25 — in Spring 2024 with public talks, archival engagements, and social gatherings contextualizing FHI's 25-year history within the broader legacy of Duke's commitment to, and advancements in, the humanities writ large.

FHI 25 events take place from 9:30–11:00 a.m. on Friday mornings in the Ahmadieh Family Lecture Hall (C105, Bay 4, Smith Warehouse). Our director introduces at the speakers at 9:30 a.m., and the speaker gives a talk of about 45–50 minutes. We then open the floor for discussion, and close at 11:00 a.m.
