In March 2017, Duke's Forum for Scholars and Publics hosted a discussion with political theorist Achille Mbembe (Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research) about his book Critique of Black Reason, recently translated by Laurent Dubois (Romance Studies and History, Duke) and published by Duke University Press.  Moderated by Tsitsi Jaji (English, Duke), the discussion explored the core themes of the book as well as the process of its translation into English. The translation was supported by an FHI Faculty Book Manuscript Workshop award.
