Pauli Murray Project | Dark Testament Oracle: Sermonizing & Poetics in the Tradition of Pauli Murray

In celebration of the republication of Pauli Murray’s book "Dark Testament: and Other Poems," a poetic work about identity, democracy, and possibility, Duke's Pauli Murray Project hosted an event that highlighted Black trans and gender fluid/non-binary/non-conforming visionaries and other community members committed to the transformation that Pauli Murray’s poetic life made possible.

The event took place on October 14, 2018 at the Lyon Park Community Center in Durham, NC. The Pauli Murray Project, part of the Duke Human Rights Center at the Franklin Humanities Institute, seeks to build stronger ties between our Durham communities through dialogue, education, and new ways of telling our unique history. To build a better Durham, the Pauli Murray Project engages a diversity of residents to lift up the vision and legacy of activist, scholar, feminist, poet, and priest Pauli Murray in order to tackle enduring inequities and injustice in our community.
